Scavenger Hunt with Mr Bloom

I have just competed a wonderful journey with Mr Bloom who I now know does not stuff animals for a living. This exorcise is a great way to create excitement in students in any project. by allowing them to do the research guided by the taxonomy methods is a perfect way to keep them engaged and monitor their mastery of the subject

Is it the End or Only the Beginning

By two favorite things are not related in a pure sense.  I liked the Creative Commons section this has changed the way I will do my classes forever. The most fun I had was the Animoto exercise how cute that is I will enjoy sharing that with classes.

It really did not affect my life long learning goals it sure helped me tweak them.  I at this stage of my life I want to keep learning and give back.   I fought the corporate wars for years in a very high stress job the only thing that mattered was that days results yesterday was forgotten and tomorrow was not promised, to drive that point home the turnover rate was 30-40 percent a year.  What this program has helped me do is learn how to organize and share my ideas and philanthropic goals with others of a like mind.

The biggest take a way was the amount of time i invested in the project. I worked hard on this I honestly believe it was too much in the condensed format of 1 session of Summer School.  The surprise frankly was that I did work as hard as it took.  I feel like the constraints of time prevented me form doing as much with the new things I was introduced to as I would have with a full quarter to complete the task

At the risk of repeating my self the Creative Commons open my eyes I work in smaller school systems some have smart boards some do not I feel that the info on the various ways to collaborate will help me and the others on the faculty as well.  As for the classroom the reason I took Educational Technology was to learn how to be on the cutting edge of teaching with all the new technology that has been introduced since I left the classroom.  I am a good communicator and speaker I needed to be able to share ideas and concepts in other ways.  The collaboration method student to student fits that bill.

I will keep up with 2.0 by using: RSS, Tweeter and Google Alerts as well as You Tube for Educators and industry specific blogs.

As a teacher Learning about Creative Commons takes a burden off my shoulders.
I have always been concerned and often erred on the side of caution about using others work. I suppose my fear was based on encounters I have had in the publishing print advertising and dealing with my daughter in her modeling career.  I was always afraid I was going to print an ad that was protected under copyright . and that jaded my views in sharing things with students in the class.

The eyeopener of CC was the collaboration side I was not aware of such a thing as CC and feel it opens up a whole new way of sharing work mine and others with my class and my co-workers.

Above I have linked to a binder and a shelf
1. The  Private Binder is the info on LiveBinders
My public binders are:
1 History
2. The Vietnam Era
3. Civil Rights
4. Lincoln

As for as the use of this I like the ease of bookmarking links under different tabs and sub tabs as needed.  I can see the students using this to enhance their outline for a term paper or on any project they ate working on.
By incorporating this with the other applications we have learned I see this helping organize my collaborating efforts.

With Diigo this should make organizing and cataloging my sites a breeze.
I will say it took a few times to get the items as I wanted them and is still a work in progress

Thing 21

This was indeed fun. I could not access my Flickr account I have been having issues connecting to it at times or it could have been too much for my wi-fi

In any event I can see this as a hit in the class room kids could dress up as historian characters and make a quick video using anyone's smart phone.  With the editing features they could customize it into the proper lesson and embed in the power point for the class to discuss.  Good Tool!
