The use of it in a classroom could be awesome if used correctly. However all schools I have been associated with Facebook is banned for students to use, indeed each of the schools I have worked the Board of Education forbids contact by teachers with students on Facebook I have noticed that facility and administration use it , more as a tracking tool than anything useful.
Could it be an educational tool? Absolutely, however attitudes and applications are going have to change
I am not a Facebook fan. It has been my experience that people tend to monopolize it usually people with nothing to say just posting tired photos or sayings they have found somewhere very isomorphic as a rule.
The obvious advantages are, unlike myself, most people love it. Indeed its a great way to contact old friends or family members and of the few friends I have of Facebook I enjoy an occasional view to see what's up.
Teeter I enjoy I use it as an information tool similar to an RSS feed I enjoy reading tweets by my sorts favorites and some in the field of entertainment.
I found the tweeter for educators a useful tool below I have linked a couple of sites that I found helped me understand better how to use tweeter in education.
