I have used Flickr in the past and must admit I still have issues with this site I just can't navigate with it with any comfort at all.
As far as the class room application, the ability to personalize anything makes it more interesting to us. With the commons and map features it is possible for students to incorporate pertinent photos on any history paper, not to say a picture is worth a 1000 words in the paper, we still need to write a paper not just a photo show.
The geography classes using the Flickr map feature could make a map of places they have been or have friends or relatives living in and use that to relate pertinent information about the climate, culture and political facts of the state or region.
